Underworld
Underworld have been one of the top electronic music acts since the early 1990s. Their breakthrough happened with the album Dubnobasswithmyheadman in 1994, and the track Born Slippy .NUXX became one of the anthems of the late 1990s after being included in the soundtrack of the movie Trainspotting. Underworld have been active all through the 2000s, releasing records, writing movie soundtracks and collaborating with different artists such as Iggy Pop. The duo’s latest album Strawberry Hotel was released last autumn, proving their creativity is still strong. Critically acclaimed as one of the top moments of their career, the album included their trademark mixture of euphoric, dancefloor-friendly electronic tracks as well as experimental, genre-twisting sounds.
The two members of Underworld, Rick Smith and Karl Hyde, are still guided by the same open-minded and experimental mentality as in the 1990s. Their iconic tracks from a career of more than three decades, Hyde’s charismatic live presence as a vocalist, and their always-stunning visuals are a combination that keeps Underworld globally in high demand as a live act also this year.
