Saxtronauts

The Other Sound
22:30

Founded in 2017, Saxtronauts is an exploratory saxophone ensemble on a mission to bring high-quality art music to diverse audiences in an open-minded way. Based on collaborations with various actors in the fields of science and art, the ensemble arranges works for saxophone from different eras, commissions new music, and performs original works composed for saxophone.

Saxtronauts Anna-Sofia Anttonen, Nanna Ikonen, Nanako Lammi, and Sikri Lehko are all versatile and curious musicians, educators and performing artists in their own right. The saxophone is their instrument for exploring the universe.

Their performance at Flow includes medieval church songs from Hildegard of Bingen and Pérotin arranged by the band, new domestic experimental music from Meriheini Luoto and Lauri Supponen, and pieces by Erkki-Sven Tüür and Maria Kõrvits from Estonia.
