Ege Zulu has become one of Finland’s most exciting and beloved rap artists in recent years. By the end of 2024, he had truly captured the nation’s attention when his high-energy performance at Finland’s Independence Day gala afterparty was watched by millions. Known for his electrifying stage presence, uplifting lyrics, and ability to blend genres, Ege Zulu has cemented his status as a leading force in Finnish afrotrap.

After winning the Radio YleX’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year award in 2022, he gained widespread recognition with his album Oi maamme Helsinki, which explored themes of city life and identity while featuring some of Finland’s biggest rap stars, including Sexmane, Jare Brand, and Asa. Since then, he has established himself as one of Finland’s most positive and charismatic rap voices, a reputation further strengthened by his third album, Mammanpoika, released in April 2024.

Mammanpoika blends West and North African dance rhythms, 90s rap influences, and raw, relatable storytelling. The album delivered several major chart hits, including the double-platinum streaming Tunnista tuntiin, 100 kg kukkia, and Oikee mies. Guest appearances from top Finnish artists like BEHM and Jambo further elevated the album’s impact. Its central themes revolve around coming of age, self-identity, and the balance between independence and family ties.

In 2023, Finland’s largest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat named Ege Zulu’s performance at Flow Festival one of the festival’s most uplifting moments. With his ever-evolving energy and larger-than-life presence, his 2025 Flow Festival show is set to be even bigger.
