Their ever-developing sound is based on IDM, techno, and experimental electro, but taking influences in several genres like musique concrète. Autechre plays all around the world in both electronic music festivals and concert venues, and often in complete darkness. Recently, the duo has told they might not make studio albums anymore but rather concentrate on playing live concerts and releasing them on record.
