TimoViialainen:Seakey(andthenIpickedupmy...)

Timo Viialainen, who works in the fields of visual, performance, and sound art, will bring a four-work collection titled Seakey (and then I picked up my…) to Suvilahti’s Tiilikello, based on the exhibition that was shown at Sinne Gallery in 2023. In his sculptural works, Viialainen uses metal, electromagnetism, sound, and movement, creating a hypnotic interaction that attracts and captures the viewer’s attention. Each piece is connected in one way or another to the sea and incorporates parts found on the shores of Norway and Finland.

Viialainen’s works take form in conceptual, viewer-activated sculptural pieces and performances that make use of sonic elements. Viialainen graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the Sculpture Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in 2021, and his works are in the collections of the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Fund and Kiasma. Viialainen has held three solo exhibitions, and as a performance and sound artist he has performed at numerous events and festivals in 21 different countries.
